South Central Transit Director of Training, Jeff Stark has announced that emergency bus evacuation drills will begin on Thursday, March 30th, on all B.C.M.W. routes. Demand/Response and Public Shuttle evacuations will be conducted the week of April 10th through April 14th.
Every spring SCT’s Driver Training Department conducts emergency evacuation drills to help both drivers and passengers prepare should there ever be a real life emergency involving a public transportation vehicle.
Nearly every route SCT operates will take part in the evacuation drills at some point that week. SCT drivers and passengers are only aware of the scheduled week of the drills but not the actual day or time.
The SCT dispatching office will randomly notify the driver by radio to announce the emergency drill and to perform the evacuation. We appreciate the patience and cooperation of all participating passengers.
The drills performed in the spring of 2016 included the safe and timely evacuation of 449 ambulatory passengers and 42 wheelchair passengers.
