When traveling in or around Clinton County how many times have you seen those big white SCT buses and wondered, what they are doing or where they are going?
South Central Transit has been providing public transportation services in Clinton County since 1994 and we’re still here for you today! In the past twenty-three years of services in Clinton County, SCT and the residents have seen many significant changes including the continued demand for individuals requiring transportation assistance.
The focus and intent of this post is to provide the Clinton County Community with the most up to date and valuable information regarding South Central Transit so that it may be accessed to the fullest.
Our Breese office is located at 12778 Drive-In Road. As the demand for public transportation in our rural communities has grown and in keeping up with this demand over the last ten years SCT began constructing and adding public shuttle routes across their six-county service area.
In Clinton County the PURPLE MARTIN public shuttle route is offered Monday – Friday between the hours of 6:45 a.m. and 5:30 p.m. in the following cities; New Baden, Trenton, Aviston, Breese, Beckemeyer and Carlyle and makes frequent stops throughout the day at locations such as New Baden City Park for connections to SCT’s Gold Finch shuttle route for continued service to the Scott-Shiloh Metro Link station. The Purple martin shuttle then stops at Kaskaskia College – Trenton Education Center, Aviston Family Restaurant, Breese SuperValu, Dollar General, St. Joseph’s Hospital, Healthplex, Beckemeyer Casey’s and in Carlyle WalMart, SuperValu, Casey’s and mid-day stops at Carlyle City Pool, and West Access Lake (Pavilion #2). The PURPLE MARTIN shuttle also stops twice daily at the Trenton Senior Meal Site, Christ Our Rock Lutheran High School, Centralia Correctional Center and Kaskaskia College Main Campus. Connections from Clinton Counties Purple Martin shuttle to Centralia Intra-city Cardinals shuttle are possible twice daily at KC’s Main Campus.
Public shuttles operated by SCT DO NOT require advanced scheduling and fares are .50 – $2.00 depending on where on the route you ride to. Shuttle route deviations of up to ¾ mile from the closest of any designated stop are possible in the event there is not already a shuttle stop location near you. If you have an interest in a local business or location not already on our shuttle route you may inquire about scheduling a deviation to that location. Deviations DO require advanced scheduling.

Upon providing the SCT required/proper identification information SCT does offer discounted fares and transportation money cards for Veterans, Military, Senior Citizens and Disabled clients.
