In 2010 after retiring from 25 years as a Plant Manager/Supervisor of a privately owned company in the nuclear industry, John R. Elliott (aka J.R.) began at South Central Transit as a part-time driver in Jefferson County. By November of 2010 J.R. became SCT’s Jefferson County Driving Supervisor.
J.R. was very instrumental with the constructing of the shuttles in Jefferson County. Along with the previous County Supervisor, Randy Barrow, they worked more than three years planning and implementing the successful Intra and Inter-city shuttle routes throughout Jefferson County.
After 55 years in the work force, and 8 dedicated years to South Central Transit, J.R. has decided to once again retire. He’s planning to get back into the things he enjoys such as gardening, cooking and baking, fishing and hunting sporting clay’s. It’s been shared that J.R. makes a “mean cupcake!”
J.R. shared that he is very thankful that SCT Administration entrusted in him as the county supervisor and he feels the same about his successor.
“After 55 years of working, the last 8 have been the best and the best part of retiring is that I will now be able to call my co-workers friends!”
Thank you, J.R. for the time, hard work, dedication and friendship you’ve contributed to South Central Transit and the communities we serve. Happy Retirement! (pictured above is retiree, John Elliott and SCT Managing Director, Sheila Niederhofer)
