Recently 25 transit drivers from public transportation agencies throughout Illinois participated in the 17th Annual Rural Transit Assistance Center Paratransit Bus Roadeo at the Sangamon Fairgrounds in New Berlin, IL.

There are four categories in which drivers compete, Pre-trip, Written, Driving Obstacle Course and Wheelchair Securement. At this years Roadeo South Central Transit participants received First, Second and Novice Awards plus Written and Course Driving First place awards. Congratulations to SCT award recipients, Megan Branson, Dennis Overbeck and Ken Karbach. As first place overall winner, SCT’s Overbeck is expected to participate in the CTAA National Roadeo to be held this year in Palm Springs CA.

To all this years participants, Thank You for exhibiting public transit driving at it’s finest! And many thanks to all the volunteers (spouses, children, significant others of transit folks) that support the Roadeo! Great job everyone!
