SCT is shining the employee spotlight on Jeff Stark. Jeff started with SCT as a part time driver in 2012 at our West Frankfort facility. In 2013 he transitioned to his current role as Director of Training, and in 2015 Jeff also began leading SCT’s Safety Committee and in 2018 became SCT’s Certified Safety and Security officer.
Recently, Jeff was asked, what he enjoys most about SCT? He shared that SCT has been a wonderful experience for him, both as a driver and in the positions he now serves. As a driver he enjoyed meeting new people and to be able to provide a much needed service to them. As Director of Training, he is privileged to get to know new drivers as they spend 2-3 weeks together training and that is something no one else in the company gets to enjoy. Jeff said he finds it rewarding teaching someone how to drive a big bus when they may have never driven anything bigger than a mini-van. It never gets old seeing new drivers become cautiously optimistic with a big smile and a new CDL.”
One of the most significant changes Jeff said he has witnessed while employed with SCT has been the shift from demand response to fixed route (shuttle service) along with shuttle deviations. It did not seem like a big change because it was implemented gradually from county to county, but it really was a paradigm shift in the way SCT does business in the communities we serve.
Life highlights that Jeff shared were he and his wife Debbie have enjoyed 38 wonderful years together. They have 4 children and 6 grandchildren.
Jeff is an ordained Elder (minister) in the Church of Nazarene and over the past 25 years has served churches in Louisa KY, Mansfield, Urbana, Benton and now Olney IL where he pastors a small church.
In his free time Jeff enjoys making saw dust (woodworking) in the garage and strumming on the guitar.
One of the last questions we asked Jeff was, if you were to put a tag line on your life, what would it be? His reply was, #BlessedBeyondMeasure #BetterThanIDeserve.
