Hi – I am Beth Monken, Procurement Officer at South Central Transit. I have been with the SCT organization for 22 years and I would say that two of the most significant changes during my time with SCT has been the expansion of services and the increase in the number of employees. When I started at SCT there were approximately 30 employees total and to date we have close to 150.

Working with the Staff, Dispatch/Schedulers and Drivers to provide public transportation to our clients in Clinton, Marion, Jefferson, Franklin, Perry, and Washington Counties is what I enjoy most about South Central Transit.

Recently, I was asked, what part of my job is most challenging? Well…the past year has been challenging for most people! However, one of the responsibilities of my job is processing payroll and with the ever changing COVID policies, what was policy one month may not be the same the next month. Just trying to stay on top of the changes has made 2020-2021 one of the most challenging years.

Outside of work, my favorite sports team is the 10U Supersonics as a very special girl pitches for them.

I love to travel and am really looking forward to catching up this year.

And life highlights, my first grandson was born during the pandemic, which was a challenge for all. He will be celebrating his first birthday this weekend. It was the best Mother’s Day gift any mother could ever wish for. Love the Grandma Life!
