Marilyn is a Clinton County Senior Citizen who has been a riding with South Central Transit since 2017. She recently began using the Purple Martin 2 Shuttle, which is a newly revised intra-city route. This shuttle makes predetermined stops at predetermined times at several local businesses and residential locations inside the city limits of Carlyle and rides are just 50¢ per trip. The Purple Martin Shuttle is available to anyone residing in Carlyle. Residents who are disabled or do not have an accessible shuttle stop location near them can call in advance to schedule a deviation of up 3/4 mile or less from the closest shuttle stop. Deviations are an additional 50¢ with at least a 24-hour advanced scheduling notice. Same day service can be provided, if available, with an additional $2.00 fare.
Marilyn shared that she uses SCT for her transportation as she has some vision issues and cannot drive at this time. She also uses the mobility lift device as a standee due to mobility limitations. Marilyn stated “I wish more people used this service but I just don’t think folks really realize how easy and convenient it is to use SCT services, especially now with the gas prices being so high. Sure you may have to ride a few minutes but hey, there maybe somewhere else on the route you decide you’d like to go!”
Transportation fares are subsidized for senior citizens age 60 years and over in Clinton and Washington Counties. This service in conjunction with AgeSmart Community Resources.
