March 18th is National Transit Driver Appreciation Day! This is an annual event to celebrate the public service of public transit vehicle operators. The date of March 18 was selected to commemorate the first bus line, Blaise Pascal’s Carrosses a’ cinq sols in Paris, 1962.
Bus operators do it all – perform both pre-trip and post-trip inspections of the vehicles, clean, sanitize and fuel the vehicles, pick up riders, collect fares, answer route and trip planning questions, maneuver through traffic, around tight corners, road construction and all sorts of weather conditions. Transit drivers across the nation are dedicated to what they do. So, Don’t Forget to Thank Your Bus Driver Today and Everyday!
