“Starting here 11 years ago truly changed my life.” – Shirley Hilmes

Shirley is a dedicated transit driver at our Clinton County Office in Breese, IL. She navigates public routes in Clinton and Washington Counties, as well as Community Link Contract routes in Breese. Growing up in Clinton County as the youngest of 12 siblings, Shirley embodies the spirit of community and service.
In her free time, she finds joy in volunteering at her church, crafting, and immersing herself in true crime stories through books, movies, and TV shows. If she could pursue another profession, she would eagerly become a homicide detective. Shirley also embraces the beauty of nature, enjoying walks and hikes, with plans to explore the Garden of the Gods for her next birthday.
Her supervisors commend her unwavering willingness to take on any role or route without hesitation. The highlight of her job is the rewarding connections she makes with new people. Recently, the office welcomed 10 new buses, and Shirley’s enthusiasm for driving these brand new “fancy” buses shines through. Shirley’s empowering advice for new hires is: “Always put safety first.”
